PCOS and ovarian cysts can be life threatening. There are at least four people I know and love who have experienced the excruciating, disabling pain caused by ovarian cysts. Do you know what it’s like to see a person you love in so much pain that they’re vomiting, crying, curled up in a ball and refuse to move because it hurts too much to even open their eyes? Hormonal contraceptives do more than prevent pregnancy. You want to protect life? Start with the people who are already living.

I have ovarian cysts and a tumor to boot. My periods suck! There are times where I can’t even walk, which means that I can’t go to work. I’ve had to crawl just to go to the bathroom or make my way downstairs in my house to get something to eat (if I could even keep food down). I would have shakes, migraines, dizziness, etc. Birth control was the best thing to ever happen to me. It was like a light at the end of the tunnel. Now that I’m unemployed (only for now, gotta be optimistic), not having my meds is a major setback. These so-called public servants want to control what we put in our bodies without even understating our bodies or the many ways we suffer from something that is supposed to be as basic as our cycle.
